5 Easy Pre-Session Boudoir Tips
Get the most out of your experience by following these 5 tips so you feel and look your best on the day of your boudoir shoot.
While our photographers can enhance your images with expert posing, lighting, and retouching, the best results come when you feel confident, relaxed, and prepared.
By avoiding a few common pre-shoot slip-ups, you’ll not only make the most of your session — you’ll also enjoy it so much more! Feeling healthy, vibrant, and at ease helps create photos that look natural, powerful, and uniquely you.
These simple tips are here to help you step into your shoot feeling amazing from the inside out.
-
Avoid Spray tans:
While a skilled technician may be able to apply a spray tan that photographs well, we generally recommend avoiding spray tans before your boudoir session. Spray tans can often appear orange or uneven on camera, especially around delicate areas like the hands, underarms, elbows, and knees.
Keep in mind — your hands play a key role in adding expression and sensuality to your images. We want them to look natural, smooth, and flawless. For the most polished results, we suggest embracing your natural skin tone or using subtle bronzing makeup during your session if desired.
Your skin is beautiful just as it is, and our lighting, posing, and editing techniques are designed to enhance your natural glow.
-
Stay Glowing with Hydration & Moisturize:
Want that fresh, radiant glow in your photos? One of the easiest ways to enhance your natural beauty is by staying hydrated and moisturizing! Drinking plenty of water and moisturizing in the days leading up to your shoot helps your skin look smooth and healthy and hydrating keeps your eyes bright and clear. It’s a simple step that makes a big difference in how you look and feel during your session.
-
Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Amazing:
Take time to plan and try on your outfits in advance to ensure they fit well and make you feel confident. Well-fitting lingerie or clothing can make a huge difference in how you look and feel during your shoot. If something doesn’t feel quite right when you wear it, it’s likely to show in the photos. Bring options that you love and feel your best in — comfort and confidence always photograph beautifully.
-
Treat Yourself to a Little Pre-Shoot Pampering:
Investing in a few professional beauty services before your shoot can help you look and feel your absolute best. Whether it’s freshly styled hair, manicured nails, or a waxing appointment, these little touches can elevate your final images and boost your confidence on the day.
We recommend scheduling these services a week to a few days in advance to allow time for any adjustments and to ensure you feel completely comfortable and ready to shine.
-
Rest and Refuel to Feel Your Best:
A good night’s sleep before your shoot goes a long way in helping you feel calm, confident, and refreshed. Not only does it reduce stress and tension, but it also helps you look naturally radiant and well-rested in your photos.
We also recommend having a light, nourishing meal before your session. Feeling fueled and hydrated helps you stay energized, relaxed, and fully present — so you can truly enjoy the experience.
Think of your shoot day as a celebration of you — and that starts with taking care of your body and mind.
